Levels of design: Structure

- [Instructor] Regardless of the model or method we use in our interaction design work, it will be an iterative process. We make multiple passes through our ideas, concepts, proposals, and drafts each time seeking to make them better. But we can think about interaction design being practiced at several levels or phases. We start from the broadest level of organization, the structure, proceed to map out the connections and paths through the product from initial states to end goals, the flow, then focus on the appearance and behavior of the product, the interface. We should evaluate our work with research at each of these phases to validate our decisions and designs to ensure that they're clear and meaningful, but also because the design choices we make at one level can have an impact on the other levels.
