- If the feedback is aligned with our predictions, if it is meaningful and valuable, and if it moves us toward our goal, then we learn that our interaction was effective and the probability of performing that interaction again in the future increases. We learned how to interact in several ways. In the introductory psychology chapter, we discussed different learning theories. Here's how they apply to interaction design. We learned to associate things that occur together in space and time. When we're browsing the web, we often encounter pop-up ads and overlays that obstruct our view and limit or prevent access to the content. We quickly learn that their appearance is a signal that we should look for close or dismiss buttons to remove the ad or notice.
