From the course: Using Microsoft SharePoint Syntex for AI Document Management

Activating Syntex

- The first step in using Syntex is to activate it as part of your SharePoint installation. This is an admin task. So you may have to get other people involved if you don't have sufficient permissions. I'm using 365 online. So I'll start this in the Microsoft 365 admin center. And from the left navigation, click setup. Then scroll down until you get to the file and content area. And you'll see automate content understanding. Now, if you haven't played with this at all, it'll say not started. I have been in messing around so, it says started. But go ahead and click this. And then on this page, the automate content understanding page, click gets started here. Now, the first thing that you get to choose is you have the option to let users be able to create form processing models in specific SharePoint document libraries. This adds a create a form processing model item to the library menu options in the SharePoint document libraries where it's enabled. And if you enable this, you get to specify which libraries the options is available in. You can do libraries in all SharePoint sites, libraries in selected SharePoint sites, in which case you can pick from the list of sites you have available, or you can upload a CSV file that has your site addresses on it. Or you can say no SharePoint libraries and you can always go back and change that later. I'm going to go ahead and say libraries in all SharePoint sites for the sake of making this easy. Then we click next. Now, we need to create a content center. We're going to create a SharePoint content center where we will create and manage the document understanding models. Now, we need to give this site a name and I suggest something really obvious. Because that makes life easier in general. So I'm going to say, this is the Syntex management center and it says that that is available. Great. So we'll go ahead. Now you can skip this and come back to it later, or, you know, you can always make other content centers as you go along. But, you know, it's pretty easy to do this right here. I suggest this is a good place to get started with this. So we'll say next. And review and finish. Take a look, everything looks good. We're going to enable all libraries. And the name of it is Syntex Management Center. So we're going to go ahead and click activate. Okay. And it takes a couple of minutes, but SharePoint Syntex is now activated. We can go ahead and click done. And that will return us to the automate content understanding page. And here, you can select manage to make any changes that you want to make to your configuration settings.
