- You're leaving and your team is staying behind. How did you feel at those times in your life when you've been left behind? So have a little compassion for your teammates. In terms of the workload, your team will have a hole to fill when they're dealing with other employees, suppliers, and customers. Here are some tips to help soften the blow for them. One, get your workspace organized. There's an old adage that says that when you leave a job, your desk is so well-organized that your replacement can come in the morning following your departure, sit in your chair, and seamlessly pick up exactly where you left off. Strive for that. Don't leave your team guessing. Include information and guidance in writing about the projects you've been working on and their current status.
