- If you're thinking about leaving your current job, do yourself a favor and invest the time and brain power to think through the decision. Here's how you want to approach this, so you can make the right decisions with the least amount of stress. First, write down the reasons to leave and the reasons to stay. Having it in writing gets it out of your head which makes it more real and less emotional and dramatic. The reasons you want to leave may include: unmet expectations, maybe you've thought you were up for a promotion based on some conversations you had with your manager, but now you realize they're not going to give it to you.
