Lydian mode

- Next we'll look at the Lydian mode. In the derivative approach, the Lydian mode is made by starting on the 4th degree of a major scale. Here, we're playing F to F within the notes of the C major scale. Here's what the F Lydian mode sounds like. (guitar scale playing) In the parallel approach, the Lydian mode is a major scale with a raised 4th degree. So the scale degrees of the Lydian mode are root, two, three, sharp four, five, six, and seven. Here, we have C Lydian mode. Check out the sound of this mode. (guitar scale playing)
