Point, lines, segments, and planes

- [Voiceover] The first thing I want to talk about in Geometry is points and lines and segments and planes. So these are the basic building blocks of things in Geometry. So let me start with a line. A line is something that's straight that kinda continues infinitely in each direction and we indicate that with these arrows. And then a point is a lot of times used on the line like we might say that's a point on the line. We might say that there are end points on the line like here and here. If there was a line segment, we might say that there is a midpoint of the line. So a point doesn't really have any thickness it's just a geometrical unit. So line segments are parts of the lines with end points. So I might say that here is a line segment. There is a point here and a point here and it has a length of five so that's a line segment and it doesn't continue indefinitely. And then a midpoint of a line segment divides a segment equally. So let's say that actually this line was 50 in length…
