Decimals
- [Voiceover] So decimals are usually used to indicate parts of numbers like let's say, we had 1.5. That's one and five tenths of a number so really good way to understand decimals and even percents is to be able to turn them into fractions. So 1.5 is really the same thing as one and five tenths. So the first thing I want to teach you about decimals is what are decimal places. So let's say I have number like 2534.6212. So what are all these places? What are they called? We actually need to know. So this is the ones place, this is the tens, this is the hundreds, and then the two over here is the thousands. So those are places you should know and then decimal places, this is tenths, this two is hundredths, this one is thousandths and this two is ten thousandths. So that's how decimal places work. Sometimes you're actually going to be asked about one of the decimal places of a number so you should know what those are. Now let's talk about repeating and terminating decimals. So notice…
