(upbeat music) - So, the fourth risk zone is machine ethics and algorithmic bias. A lot of technologists like to make the argument that technology is neutral. This can be used as a kind of get out of jail free card to deflect blame when their products result in harmful side effects. The reality is, is that people create technology and people are not neutral. Technology, particularly AI, reflects and often amplifies the biases both individual and systemic of those who create it. So imagine this, a major social network company purchases a top US bank and becomes the first social credit provider. Now it starts to base mortgage rates, loan approval, credit access on the deep data collected by its social platform. But it doesn't stop there. It goes into the credit histories of close friends and family. It tracks where you go on vacation, what bars you frequent, your healthcare providers, and it even gives semantic…
