- [Instructor] Tableau looks like a reasonably simple program but there's actually a lot going on. One of the ways that you can use Tableau to its full extent is to take advantage of different file types. And in this movie, I will describe the file types available to you. We will start out with the Tableau workbook, which has a .twb extension and this store is a visualization without source data. So you might have something like an Excel file or a connection to Microsoft SQL Server and that would be stored in the workbook. So if you share the workbook with someone, you don't necessarily share the source data. A Tableau data source or .tds file stores the server address password and other information required to access a data source.
