- [Instructor] Tableau looks like a reasonably simple program but there's actually a lot going on. One of the ways that you can use Tableau to its full extent is to take advantage of different file types. And in this movie, I will describe the file types available to you. We will start out with the Tableau workbook, which has a .twb extension and this store is a visualization without source data. So you might have something like an Excel file or a connection to Microsoft SQL Server and that would be stored in the workbook. So if you share the workbook with someone, you don't necessarily share the source data. A Tableau data source or .tds file stores the server address password and other information required to access a data source. You can think of it as storing the connection credentials, such as username and password that you would use to connect to an outside data source. Other file types include the…
