- [Instructor] When you analyze your data in Tableau, it's possible that your original data source might not contain all the values that you want. For example, you might have total sales, as I do in this workbook, but you might not know the commission that is due based on those sales. So in this movie, I will show you how to calculate values based on data that you do have by creating a calculated field. My sample file is 04_02_Calculated and you can find it in the Chapter04 folder of the exercise files collection. In this workbook, I have data for sales and I'm interested in calculating a commission, which I will assume to be 5% of the sale. I will base that on order total. So I can use that multiply by .05 and get the commission. To create my calculated field, I'll go up to the Analysis menu, and then click Create Calculated Field.
