- [Instructor] Creating Tableau visualizations let you discover important information about your business. If you want to display specific information about how your sales, for example, have changed over time, you can add a trend line to a chart. A trend line is the line that best fits your existing data, which you can then use to extrapolate future results based on past performance. In this movie, I will show you how to add a trend line to a line chart. My sample file is 10_04_Trendline and you can find it in the Chapter 10 folder of the exercise files collection. I have a line chart that shows sales by month, and I can't tell immediately if there is a slight upward trend, downward trend, or whether the data is even across time, however, Tableau will know.
