Now that we've explored, educating and inspiring users for sustainability, let's dive into how to transform those green actions into long-lasting habits. The hook model is a framework that is commonly used to shape user habits. It consists of four key elements that are a trigger, action, reward, and investment. To illustrate the hook model in action, let's consider a mobile app that encourages users to use bike sharing for their commute. Here's how each element of the theory can be applied. Trigger is a first element that motivates users to take action. In our app, we might send notifications suggesting users start cycling to work or display nearby shared bicycles. These triggers prompt users to consider a more eco-friendly transportation option. The second element is action. This involves the behaviors users take in response to triggers.
