Leaders are made in 30 seconds

(rhythmic music) - The biggest challenge I have as a leader, all the opportunities you get to lead, average 200 emails, number of people come into your office, that's 250 opportunities to go do I act on this, do I delegate it, do I file it, or do I delete it? That's 250 chances to lead each day. The reason why it's a challenge is because the information that you get, or in some cases, don't get. To address this, I try to embrace and teach the 30-3-30 Model. That's 30 seconds, that's the first line of an email, or the statement that someone makes when they come into your office. From there, if that catches your interest, then it's three minutes. The three minutes that you'll spend hopefully solving the problem. In many instances, however, that doesn't ultimately address what needs to happen and that's the 30 minute meeting. Here's the problem.
