What you should know
SQL, most often pronounced "sequel", stands for Structured Query Language. It is a programming language used to communicate with and manage relational databases. It's used by many database systems today because it allows you to easily perform a wide variety of operations, including adding, updating, deleting, or retrieving data. Don't worry if you're not a programmer. SQL was designed to be intuitive and easily accessible for a broad range of users. If you are brand new to SQL, I suggest you first take my beginner course, Understand SQL, explore the power and versatility of the SQL database language, and then return here. In less than 30 minutes, you'll be equipped with foundational knowledge before writing code of your own. The course is not a prerequisite by any means, but it can help you start on solid footing by understanding what SQL is and how it can be used to empower you on the job.
