- [Instructor] A few things to know about SharePoint Search. First, when you search for something, the results that you see only include items you have permission to view. If you are not an owner, member, or visitor on a site, you won't be able to see any contents from that site in search results. That's how SharePoint security works. It protects you from things that you shouldn't have a right to see. Second, when you view search results, results will usually come back in the search panel that you're working in, but you can also look at that same list of results in a search page and usually get more detail. Because SharePoint is customizable, it's possible that there's content on your SharePoint site that will never show up in a search for anybody because that particular site or, more typically, a library or list has been excluded.
