Establishing shared coordinates
- [Instructor] In this video we're going to establish a shared coordinate system. Now, what exactly do we mean by a shared coordinate system? Well, it's a concept that we use when we have linked files and what we want to do is take the independent coordinate systems of the individual models and consolidate them together into a single shared coordinate system. So each model has its own coordinate system, its own origin and its own position in the world. And usually these are completely independent of other models. Once you start linking those models together, however you can decide that you want one of those coordinate systems for one of the models to be, think of it as the dominant one and then you can copy that coordinate system and overwrite the coordinate systems in the other models. By doing that, then what you're doing is essentially giving each model an awareness of its position in the world relative to the other…
