Adding shafts and dormers
- [Instructor] Revit has a number of opening elements. They all share one basic characteristic in common. Opening elements are a void element that cuts away from solids. So it's similar to the way doors and windows behave. When you place a door or a window in a wall, it cuts a hole in that wall. So with the opening elements, you're just creating the hole that you want to cut through the object, but you're not filling it with any geometry in that process. So I'm going to demonstrate two of the opening elements in this video, and the other three that are available will behave in a similar way, and you can explore those on your own. You're going to find all of the opening elements on the architecture ribbon right here. So the first one I'm going to demonstrate is the dormer opening.
