Research the room

- What kind of room will you be presenting in? Whenever possible, make sure you take a brief walkthrough to get familiar with your presentation space. However, in many cases, a walkthrough isn't possible or practical. Sometimes travel schedules can be so chaotic you won't get the luxury of a two-minute walkthrough. That's why I suggest using a checklist before every presentation, even presentations closer to home. A simple checklist can be very grounding. It also makes me less likely to forget tiny things that make a big difference, like batteries and backup devices. I've included checklists in the exercise files. You'll note three key sections: room dynamics, audience dynamics, and speaker equipment. Under Room Dynamics, you'll see questions to ask someone who knows the room.
