- [Instructor] When people ask why sound quality is so important for a podcast, to me, that's like asking why it's important for a restaurant to serve an edible food. So let's talk about the basics you should know before recording your first episode. First, you must understand signal flow in order to solve issues. Signal flow is the path of the audio from your mouth to the recorder, and after. Along the way, your audio is converted from sound waves to analog and digital information that can be recorded by the computer or played by speakers or headphones.
