From the course: Pitching Yourself for Opportunity

The goal of every good pitch

- What's the goal of any great pitch? You probably have some big, lofty idea about getting yourself hired in a new role, or convincing someone to invest in your startup, or giving you an opportunity to take the lead on a new initiative. But let me reframe for you the goal of any successful pitch. What you're actually going for is a second conversation. That's it. You want to engage someone in the conversation. You are hoping that they want to continue the dialogue with you, that they're intrigued, excited, curious about what you bring to the table. Recognize this. When you are pitching someone, I want you to be really clear about what you're going for. It's not some big, huge, unattainable goal. It is a second conversation.
