- There's a lot more to the ATS than just identifying which keywords to use. I know, I know. I never said that this was like some friendly bouncer that just lets everybody into the club. In fact, 70 to 75% of applicant resumes get screened out by the applicant tracking system. Now, that's not meant to discourage you. We're going to situate you so that you're in that 25 to 30% that move on in the process. So what are those other things that the applicant tracking system is looking for that you need to factor in? Number one, job title. Now, this one can be a little bit tricky. Say you're going after a job as a marketing manager, and by and large, that's the role that you've got right now, but your company calls it something like, I don't know, content manager. As long as it's honest to do so, I would call yourself marketing manager or content manager/marketing manager on that resume. That way, you're going to look like…
