- [Instructor] Welcome to the spatial audio chapter. In this movie, I'll introduce the Dolby Atmos spatial audio concept, and workflow for use in Logic 10.7 and higher. Beginning with Logic version 10.7, Dolby Atmos mixing is now incorporated in the spatial sound mixing options for Logic. This is huge. Here's why. I'll start with a simple explanation of what Atmos is, and what it does. Simply, Atmos is 3D immersive audio. With an Atmos-enabled mix, sound can be perceived to move around your head via physical speakers, or virtually over headphones. Wait a second, we've had this for years, haven't we? Surround sound. Well, the answer is yes and no. You can think of Dolby Atmos as a sort of smart surround sound. In the traditional version of surround sound, you had to have a fixed number of speakers around your living room.
