Online education in a post-pandemic world

- [Instructor] Online education is a form of education delivered and administered using the internet. 20 years ago, it would've been difficult to imagine high quality instruction delivered online. However, today it's a reality. Now, online education is a broad term, traditional in-person education is considered to be the opposite of online education, but in most cases elements of both can be integrated into a course. Let's take a look at some terms which represent the degree to which online resources are integrated. First, we have traditional in-person learning in which there's no online components. This used to be common, especially pre pandemic but now it's unusual to teach something without at least having some online components. More often, instructors of an in-person course will utilize the internet to some degree to share resources or provide learning opportunities outside of the classroom. This is considered web facilitated learning. Once you start incorporating technology, it's known as blended learning. This engages learners in an in-person component of the course, but also includes online instruction as well. And then there's online learning in which everything's done online and there's little to no in-person instruction. All aspects of the course are done online including the sharing of resources, discussions, accessing and submitting assignments, administering assessments and delivering feedback. In this course, I'll be focusing on the online aspect.
