Install Loom on Windows

- [Instructor] After signing up for Loom or after signing in with a Loom account that was created for you by your organization, you'll need to install the Loom Desktop App on your computer. Loom currently runs on Windows, Macs and iOS devices. There's also an extension you can add to the Google Chrome web browser. The desktop app that runs on Windows and Macs is going to give you the most flexibility in terms of letting you record any application. But there are also advantages of using the Chrome extension or the iOS app. We'll look at each one of these, but again, it's a good idea to install the desktop app on your Windows machine or Mac. Let's start here and look at how to install Loom on Windows. Now you may have been prompted to download the installer for your computer when you sign into your Loom account from your web browser. But if not, or if you close that window, you can go to loom.com/desktop. The site should automatically detect the operating system you're using, in this case Windows, but you can also click see more options to get to the Mac installer. In this case though, I'm going to download for PC. We can see here now that it's downloading. And let's run that installer. Okay and there it is, I can go ahead and close my browser, and you can see it's installed the Loom shortcut here on my desktop. Now you're free to move out to the recycle bin, if you don't want to clutter up your desktop, because you can always open up Loom when you need it from the start menu. But here Loom is already running and I'm being prompt to sign into my Loom account. If you don't yet have an account, you can switch over to sign up. But in this case, I'll sign in with my existing account. (keyboard clicking) And the first time you do this, you'll see a few interest screens that tell you about Loom and you can just click next to read through them. All right so when Loom is active in Windows, you'll see some of the controls appear here on the left side of the screen and its main window here is where you choose the type of recordings you'll be making and also where you can set your preferences for those recordings. And down here in the lower left, you'll see a bubble where you'll see the contents of your webcam once we get that set up. Now we'll cover all of this, but for now that's how to install Loom on Windows.
