Challenge: Formulate and test a hypothesis

(upbeat music) - [Instructor] In this chapter, I have described how to formulate a hypothesis and also given an overview of how to test it. The null hypothesis says that factor A has no effect on factor B, and the alternative hypothesis says that in fact factor A does affect factor B. The alternative hypothesis can be directional, where you look for less than or greater than, or non-directional where you're looking for a difference of any kind up or down from a particular value.
