- Today more than ever. Data is essential to the lifeblood of organizations. For example, near real time sales data is vital to a business, including who is buying products and services when they buy them, how often and where without this data, an organization is blind to market behavior. Healthcare organizations need detailed data on patients' health outcomes and costs. Smartphone App entrepreneurs need data that includes information about how many people are using the app, how often, and for how long, how an organization effectively uses data, helps it to make decisions and derives value from it called data management. While data management is used in some form in most organizations, it's appropriate to ask whether the data is well understood if it's accurate and secure.
