- In some scenarios, you may walk in and in my particular case, I inherit a crew. I don't get to choose the crew. So, the owners fired the captain and I have to walk in to an already put together crew. In your case, it may be a team. As many companies do, they change. The fish stinks at the head. Always. So, now the head of the fish has to now earn the respect of the team or the crew. Here's how I do it. When I sit down with them, I smile and I show them my smile and I say never ever take this away. There should be no reason why you take away my smile. Now, there may be situations, or scenarios that come up that we have to figure out together that don't make us smile, but the particular crew member or team member doesn't take it away.
