Using meeting time wisely

- Meeting satisfaction and time management go hand in hand. This means both beginning meetings on time and ending on time or preferably a bit early. Think of time like a budget. If you stay within or under your time budget, you'll be more productive and relaxed. Exceed that budget, and you'll be less productive and more stressed. It's the meeting facilitator's responsibility to keep the meeting within the time budget. This begins with starting every meeting on time with little to no exception. Stick to that start time. Often, meeting leaders will allow a few minutes of wiggle room as people gradually sign in online or wander into the conference room. Starting late conditions people to arrive late. Speaking bluntly, it effectively punishes people who arrive on time and begins the meeting with the implied message that we're not going to respect each other's time.
