Helping everyone be heard

- We want every attendee in the meeting to have a voice. We want each person to know that we listen to them and we value their insight. When attendees feel they're contributing to the meeting, they'll feel that meetings are worth their time. As we discussed earlier, start by dividing the remaining time among all attendees, leaving time for wrap-up at the end. Next, if you're the meeting facilitator, be aware of the attendees' attentiveness. This means glancing around the room, looking at each attendee's video or both if the meeting is hybrid. If one attendee speaks out of turn when it's time for someone else to speak, the facilitator can gently suggest that they listen. Ideally, do this without calling out someone by name. For example, "Let's give Kalid our full attention." Usually, that's enough to encourage attendees to stop distracting side conversations or activities.
