Following up on previous commitments

- After the brief training is complete, it's time to report on our commitments. If your agenda is similar to the one I provided, attendees committed to action items at the conclusion of the previous meeting. We now want to receive status reports on those commitments. This process can and should be simple and positive. The facilitator using the minutes from the previous meeting, reads the commitments each person made. Then they ask simply and kindly, did you get this done? Keeping your tone positive and friendly is essential. If the answer is yes, then the facilitator can simply say, good job or thank you. But what if the answer is no? The facilitator can then ask something like, what got in the way of completing that? Or what obstacle did you encounter? Note that I'm not asking why questions like, why didn't you do this? Why is a strong word and, at least in English, can convey some assumption of personal blame. We're not…
