- The biggest complaint people have about meetings is that they feel they're a waste of time. Usually, that feeling is directed toward other attendees. Yet, you can't control what others do. You only get out of a meeting what you put into it. Coming prepared is about more than just showing up on time, listening and participating. It's about taking the time to think about what you want out of a meeting and the value you'll bring to it. Let's explore five ways to come prepared to every meeting. First, bring your personal calendar and make sure that calendar is up to date. Sometimes, team members find themselves unable to commit to due dates or schedule follow-up check-ins or they over-commit themselves because their calendar isn't prepared.
