- Women bring unique strengths to negotiation. They identify more creative options, pay close attention to relationships and are strong advocates for others. When women embrace these strategies, they're more effective negotiators. Let's start by diving deeper into how women visualize creative outcomes during the negotiation. Women find it easier to see the context of a situation rather than focusing on the main points of what's said. So while a man might approach a salary negotiation as being only about money, a woman will see the interest behind an employee's salary request. She'll realize that compensation is just a way to purchase things like parking, gym memberships or childcare. If she can't give an employee a raise, a woman will think of options like free parking or subsidized childcare that will meet her employee's needs.
