Stop apologizing

- Studies show that women apologize more than men. This isn't because women are at fault more. In fact, men and women apologize at about the same rate when there's actually an issue of fault or wrongdoing, but there are also times that women say sorry or just use other apologetic language that can undermine their credibility without realizing it. Some of this is tied to social customs or pleasantries. Take a look at this interaction between me and Caroline during a coffee break. - Sorry, I just want to get some coffee. - It's really good today, and you don't have to apologize. It's here for all of us. - I'm sorry. I did it again, and I don't even realize when I'm doing it. - No worries, Caroline. You'd be surprised by how many of us do it and have no idea we're doing it.
