- Most teams have a variety of projects. Some are headliners, those high-profile initiatives that get highlighted. While others are housekeeping, the mundane work that goes unnoticed. Women are more likely to take on work from the housework category. As much as possible, you want to avoid falling into this trap. Instead, consider what you're good at. Think about your skills, those you have and those you want to develop. The goal is to optimize the time your spending on those things and minimize the rest. Here are some tips to help you with this. First, plan ahead. Have some ideas about the work you want to do on the project. This way, when the need for volunteers arises, you know what opportunities to pursue, and you won't feel obligated to accept something you're not interested in.
