- Picture this scene. A small regional office of a big company gets reorganized and a new manager from headquarters gets transferred in to run things, so the previous office manager, who held the position for years, gets demoted to be the new manager's assistant. Well, as you can imagine, the new manager hasn't even arrived yet and the team already doesn't like him especially the assistant manager. He's probably some fast-talking arrogant know-it-all who doesn't have a clue how we do things out here. All right, this scene actually happened at an organization in Washington State a few years ago. So, to help put things on a better path, they held a two-day team building and strategic planning retreat for the leadership team. Now, the facilitator decided to have everyone tell their life stories to each other, but in some playful and creative ways. She gave them dozens of magazines and construction paper and scissors and glue and asked them to create collages that represented their past…
