Hi, I'm Matthew Clark. And this is Lesson 3.3: IoT Architecture Stages, Part 2. In this lesson, we'll look at different IoT architecture stages and investigate data acquisition and security, edge systems and security, and cloud services and associated security. So let's get started. Let's start our discussion by taking a brief look at this slide again to see where we are. We spent Lesson 3.2 discussing the things in IoT, namely; sensors, actuators, and tags. Now, we're going to focus on the remaining three areas, data acquisition, edge IT, and cloud services. Let's start with data acquisition. Here you have data aggregation. Once a sensor obtains analog data, that data has to be aggregated and converted into digital form, and this can be done at the gateways. Gateways usually operate in close physical proximity to the sensors, and this is helpful because they can convert one communication type to another.
