Navigating a LinkedIn Learning course page

- [Oliver] On LinkedIn Learning, once you've found a course that you want to watch, you can click on it to enter the course page. Let's take a quick look at the layout and features of a course page. So right now, I found a course that I want to watch, and it's called Learning to Teach Online. If I click on this, it brings me to the course page. Now, the first thing that I want to point out is, off to the left, there is the table of contents, and I can open or close this at any time. Inside of here, I can open or close the chapters at any time. Now, whenever you come to a course, I recommend checking out the table of contents. It's going to give you an overview of everything that's covered in the course, including the names of each of the videos, so it's a good way to save time and make sure that a course is relevant to you and what you want to see. Now, another thing that the table of contents will do is to track your progress. So I entered into this course, and when I did, you can see off to the left that there are a couple videos that already have green check marks next to them. That means that these courses have been completed, so I've already completed those first two videos, meaning that I can now come in here and click right on that third video and begin watching from there. Now, this format is also really good for on-demand learning. So let's say that I didn't necessarily need to see this whole course, but I wanted to watch something about establishing learning outcomes. Well, down here, there is a video on that, and I could jump straight to this video. I'll click here and then play. Important to establish learning outcomes, in other words- And I can begin watching from right there, so that can save time as well. Now, in the center of the screen, we have the video player, and that's something I'll talk about in the next video. But below this, we have some important tabs that I want to point out. First, we have the overview tab, and this gives you an overview of everything about the course. Here, you have who the author is, you can follow them on LinkedIn. So Oliver Schinkten, seems like a pretty cool guy. Down here then, it has the course details such as how long it is, the level it's at, this is a beginner course, when it was released. And then you have course details like ratings, the different skills covered, people who are currently taking this, as well as reviews and comments. Now, off to the right hand side of this, you'll also see some related courses that they think you would also like to watch. Back up here at the top, I'm currently on that overview tab, but there are some other tabs. We have Q&A and Notebook, which I'll go over in other videos. However, the notebook tab is essentially a way to take notes as you watch the course. And then we have the transcript tab, I'll go ahead and click on this, and this will give you the entire transcript for this video. Now, it's really useful because you can use it to follow along, and you'll see here that it's interactive, so as I play this, it will follow along. What is it that you want your learners to learn in your course and how will you know that they successfully mastered the content? Another neat part about it is that I can click within the transcript to jump to certain parts of the video. So let's say here that I wanted to jump to this part, I could click there, and it will jump to that part of the video. Another thing that I can do in the transcripts is to search. So if I knew that, in this video, they talked about something and I wanted to quickly find that, I could go in here and type in let's say communication, and it will bring up anytime that that exists in that script. Again, this is another powerful tool that can help you to save some time and really be able to find the content that you need. Now, I want to switch over to a couple other course pages just to point out a few things. Now, on here, you can see that they have the instructor, course details, and everything, and then there's this information related to the course. On the first one I showed you, under the overview tab, the only thing we had was certificates. And if I clicked on it, you could see that you'll receive your LinkedIn Learning certificate, which you receive anytime that you complete a course on LinkedIn Learning. Now, this next course has a couple different things. First, they do have certificates. If we click here, same thing. But there's an exam on here as well as exercise files, which you can download to utilize as you take the course. I'm going to switch to one more course page, this one's for Career Essentials in System Administration, and this one's a little different yet, it has certificates, but when I click on it, you'll notice here that there is a different certificate, one for Career Essentials Certificate by Microsoft and LinkedIn. So if there are certificates related to the course, exercise files, exams, things like that, they will also exist on that course page right here in the related to the course section. So this is the course page, and it's something I recommend you familiarize yourself with. Next, let's take a look at the video player and its controls.
