- [Instructor] In 2017, Google launched the Data Commons Initiative to make all this data easily accessible for business leaders, consumers, and researchers. Despite the critical urgency to combat the effects of climate change, finding data around sustainability is where mapping data was 15 years ago. It spread across thousands of silos. It exists in multitude of databases. And it's recorded using different schemas. Today, Data Commons is one of the largest data repositories on sustainability. Data Commons cover many topics. From demographics, economics, emissions, and the climate. Spanning over thousands of different sources. With some topic examples from climate predictions from NASA and emissions from the Environmental Protection. To show you what I mean, I'll go ahead and click into Map Explorer.
