- GIS data can be pushed to mobile devices and web apps for the benefit of managers and field crew who are not always sitting at a desktop computer. After watching this lesson, you'll be able to list a variety of ways that mobile and web GIS applications are used. There are so many different doors that can get you to GIS data. Let me show you a few examples. GIS dashboards are web apps that have a map or two at their center and a series of charts and statistics around the map that give details about what's going on in the area. This dashboard shows the pavement quality compared to traffic volumes in Tallahassee, Florida. I can change the traffic count indicator on the left to say 20,000 and then both maps would update to show only roads that have traffic volumes of over 20,000 cars per day.
