From the course: Excel: Creating a Basic Dashboard

What you should know

- [Instructor] Thanks for your interest in this course. Before I get started, I wanted to review a few things that you should know to get the most out of this course. The first is that I do assume basic Excel skills, but I teach everything else that you need. So, if you know how to open your workbooks and to create formulas, you should be ready for this course. Next, you'll need to have some information about how your business operates. You're going to be summarizing information about a business or other organization, so the more you know, the better you can work. Also, I encourage you and, in fact, am directing you to make your own design decisions. I have kept formatting minimal in this course, one, because it's an individual decision, and second, I'm not very good at it. I hire designers whenever I need anything done visually, and if you're good at it, terrific. If not, keep it simple. Finally, I want to emphasize that this course is an overview. I mention pivot tables and also conditional formatting, but I don't go into any great depth. If you want to learn more, there are plenty of resources available in the online training library.
