Who this course is for and what is covered

- Before we dive in, it's worth highlighting who this course is for and what you'll learn. First, this course is for anyone who's curious to learn more about business intelligence platforms, specifically Tableau. The aim of this course isn't to create barriers and prerequisites or even require you to download the software so you can follow along. Instead, I want to expose you to the whole Tableau platform. Think of it as a guided tool of the Tableau Product Suite. A common issue I see when learning Tableau is that most resources focus on dashboarding and reporting. As you'll find out in this course over the last few years, the product suite has grown well beyond this basic capability, especially after it became past the Salesforce family in 2019. So my aim is to help you step back and give you an overview of the whole platform so you have a better understanding of where to invest your time should you decide to dive in deep. Next, let's cover what you'll learn. I want you to understand the full breadth and depth of the Tableau Product Suite and how the main tools work together to make the platform. I'll also walk you through the full ecosystem of APIs and additional technologies designed to enable you to customize and extend the platform. This means whether you decide to go on and learn more about Tableau or whether you're just curious, you'll be able to exhibit your knowledge and understanding of Tableau at work, college, or school. And hopefully, if you decide to get more involved, you know exactly what you need to learn and how that interacts with the whole platform. We'll test this with some business use cases right at the end of this course, showcasing three examples of companies and how the Tableau platform might solve their challenges. The other scenario where this course offers value is if you're the main user of another analytics platform or ecosystem and just want to keep in touch with what's new at Tableau.
