- With every technology, there are times when you want to push the boundaries to make technology work in a way that couldn't be imagined by the developers of the software. For those moments, Tableau has APIs. An API is simply a way for developers to interface with technology, in this case, the Tableau platform. And as you can expect with a platform as varied as Tableau's, there's going to be a range of APIs to allow you to control various aspects of the platform.
