- [Instructor] Data management is a tricky issue for organizations of all sizes and across all industries. It's really challenging to maintain accurate and consistent data across a wide variety of business functions, and then use that data to effectively achieve business value. To help understand these challenges, let's imagine the business of a large automobile manufacturer and think about the ways that manufacturer might collect information about different people. Of course, the manufacturer has customers who purchase their new cars. These customers come through vehicle dealerships in their local areas where they purchase cars and the company receives information about those customers from the dealer allowing them to track ownership of new vehicles. Now those new car customers eventually sell their cars and each vehicle may have one or more subsequent owners who purchased the car used. Those transactions may or may not be reported back to the manufacturer who then might lose track…
