- [Instructor] So, how can you check if your information has been compromised? So, over the last number of years, data leaks have only grown and grown. So a data leak is when personal data is released without consent to the public. When there's a data leak, used organizations are usually informed, for the day, at least. There's a large amount of exposure and discussion around those individual leaks but that's not always the case. Notoriously, organizations have usually waited for the last moment to actually disclose if there's been a data leak. Although this might be contrary to different laws, you need to check your state or location to see how companies need to tell the public if there has been a data leak.
