- It takes more than just attracting diverse candidates to create a diverse, inclusive workforce. Many organizations focus a lot of resources on recruiting without allocating resources to retain diverse talent. Here are five strategies leaders and managers can follow to create an inclusive onboarding process for new hires. One, communicate expectations and roles. To ensure that all new hires feel welcome and included, it is important to communicate expectations and roles from the start. This can include providing information on company policies, procedures and culture, as well as outlining the responsibilities of the new hires role. Two, assign a buddy or mentor. Providing new hires with a mentor or buddy can help them feel supported and connected to the organization.
