- There are a lot of reasons someone might not want to be coached. Maybe you inherited an employee who is less than thrilled you're their new boss, or maybe they hate their job, or maybe something in their background makes them think of coaching as critique. In these situations, it's easy to fall into the category of a nag, especially if this person isn't a strong performer.
