- I've been asked a lot about where the march influence came from and I, as a kid and a teenager and still today, I wanted to be a part of the drum core community and I guess I didn't have the right people to like direct me on how to get involved with that whole thing. But I've always been fascinated with drum core. One of the most, the major influences in my career as far as marches, is the groove that Steve Gadd plays on a Paul Simon tune, called 50 Ways to Leave your Lover, or lose your lover, I forget, but we'll just call it 50 ways for now. But that was quite an incredible groove that Steve came up with and I think a lot of drummers at that time coming up were tryna play that groove. So that's basically where that influence comes from.
