- [Narrator] We have finally arrived. We can begin painting the texture right onto our character model. To do so, we need to do a couple of steps. First, let's remove the color grid by hitting x and make a new texture. We're going to call it fish texture. Next, we can set the height and width. You'll note that everything is a power of two. 1024 by 1024. That's because we're going to store in memory at a power of two. So if I typed in 1000, Blender and your computer would still store a texture in memory up to a power of two, it would just round up. So that's why everyone decides to say, okay, well then, we will have a texture that is 1024 pixels big. In my case, I want to multiply by two, so I can have what is called a 2K texture, or 2448 by 2048. Under generate a type, make sure it says blank and then click okay.
