- [Narrator] Materials are the base of shading in all of blender. They define the general properties of your 3D object and how it reacts to light, or if it even gives off light. Let's take a look by opening up our fishbowl scene that we created earlier with our fancy rocks. Now, before we go a little further I do want to point out that I added some more rocks. I added some more edge loops to our volcano and I use the random proportional editing to kind of beat it up a little bit. Plus for good measure, I dipped in the inside by using the extrude tool. To go back to object mode. You can see that it has a nice little crevice. I've also renamed all the objects in the outliner so they're a little bit clearer. One more bit is set up as much as I love Evie it's going to help to be in cycles because fishbowl is going to depend on Ray tracing, something Evie doesn't do.
